Launched in early 2015, Spin Genie merges the most exciting elements of real money gambling with the viral aspects of social gaming, giving recreational gamers a new approach to playing popular online casino games. We were commissioned to produce the online advertising campaign to raise awareness of the brand and drive account sign-ups.
Fronted by the resident Spin Genie fuzzball himself, ‘Spin’, theses ads helped capture the fun and wonder on offer for players as well as the tantalising cash prizes the game play provides.
To maximise the campaign’s reach, we recommended the use of standard HTML5 (instead of Flash) so that the full ad creative could be seen on mobile and tablet devices whilst also being compatible with a multitude of ad networks and affiliate websites. Along with the usual creative and technical limitations that standard 40k file sizes bring, we were also limited by the physical number of files we were able to upload to Google DCM which at the time was capped at 10 files only. Not ones to be put off by a challenge, this meant that our assets and animation styles had to be used sparingly at best, the latter being achieved through some very creative uses of CSS-based transitions.
The end results were impressive for standard media HTML5 executions and go to show that working to such strict parameters can actually boost creativity.
